G&D TRAINING

catering service in 1998. However due to the constant shortage of knowledgeable
staff and the strain of on-the-job training of new staff. Opened a new
opportunity, that was welcomed by the highly skilled entrepreneurial family.
In 2000 the family repositioned into the field of skills
training and developed, a skills training section within the company known as
G&D Training. We started out providing skills training in the field of
hospitality for the Department of Labour about fifteen years ago. In 2009
G&D Training registered with South Africa’s Sector Education and Training
Authority and received their accreditation from the Cathsseta (Culture,
Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority).
Since then, as a private service provider G&D Training’s
accreditation have expanded to over 30 programmes of which we offer full
qualifications and part qualification (skills programmes) and are now also
accredited with the QCTO (Quality Council for Trades and Occupations). The
company have broadened and expanded our base to include in in FIVE different
fields.
- Hospitality
- Tourism
- Environmental field
- Education
- Sport
Over a period of 23 years G&D has trained a huge amount,
around 10 000 students in various disciplines and plays a vital role in
imparting years of practical experience. Within the required field G&D
Training is known as a leading skills training service provider and have since
contributed to skills development on many levels. In a country where many
people need at least a basic skill, many of these programmes can be used as a
steppingstone towards a specialised career path. To succeed in the 21st century
labour market, one needs a comprehensive skill set composed of cognitive skills,
socio-emotional skills, technical skills, and digital skills. The development
of skills can help people to become more competitive, enhance employability and
labour productivity, and contribute to structural transformation and economic
growth.
G&D Programmes provide sector-specific job training,
internships, employment placement, and retention support. They adapt to an
ever-changing labour market, focusing on career sectors that reflect the
broadest range of employment options. Our Vocational training programmes help
with bridging the skills gap between work and education. Possessing a
specialised skill set increases employment opportunities and makes economic
sense.
G&D Training is proud to have experienced and
knowledgeable assessors and moderators with whom they entrust their learners.
G&D’s experienced staff and their love for their industries is part and
parcel of what makes G&D incomparable, and this contributes to their unique

workforce, with our skills training programmes we can help build a capable, and
engaging workforce. With the accurate skills programme G&D can ensure that
you have the required skills set to be more employable for the workplace.
Our skill training focusses on identifying, training and
nurturing talent, in any of the five different fields we specialised in. Our
starting point is looking at your natural skills, with what needs to be
developed. We believe talent is innate, but with our training, you can enhance
these proficiencies, refine that can create a profession, and an income.
When it comes to educating students, the importance of building
skills-based education cannot be underestimated. Students who attend our
training will receive specialised skills in a particular field and will be able
to excel in their chosen field. We offer a competency-based training approach
that is mapped with the industry’s needs. Our work-place driven skills in a stimulated
environment makes students more confident and ready for the field of work. We
also assist students with work-readiness training, as well as emphasise to the
young people the value of the new founded skills they required during the
training.
With our training they will gain on-site work experience
throughout their education that will make the transition to the working world
is minimal, helping them professionally and financially. Students do not enter
the work field with little practical experience regarding the tools and
environments in which they will work. Instead, they have specifically worked in
these situations throughout their education under the supervision of their
trainers. This creates a more favourable employability skills assessment. Businesses
who hire them will know that they can count on their new employees to get
started immediately in the field and work with a high level of independence and
competency, therefore creating a favourable experience for everyone involved. Potential
employers can look at the academic record of these students and know the type
of skills they will already have when they first enter the building.
Passionate students who wish to further their studies can
enrol in any of the G&D skills programmes, full qualifications, for example
